Why Use Tapescan?

Video Quality

Your video tapes will look better than ever as we use a patented recipe of video stabilization, color correction and image enhancement filters.

For the techies:  Video tapes are captured at a resolution of 720 x 480 and deinterlaced, so that the image is without video distortion or artifacts (also called 480p).  Video files are then gently compressed using the Quicktime h.264 / MPEG4 codec.  The bitrate quality is equivalent to 3Mbps (better than the industry standard).

This example shows a still frame captured from a typical video tape.  The before image is what the video would look like without any enhancements or special processing.  The after image shows a much clearer picture where the video has actually been stabilized, giving a clear view on every still frame.

Tapescan helped us convert our whole aging media library into the digital age.  The whole process was painless, affordable and the quality was impeccable.
